Xenon lamps do not use in fog lights: constantly changing the configuration of the discharge violates the strictly calculated geometry of the light beam, and the headlight does not perform its direct function. For fog lights it is better to use only LED bulbs.

Volvo XC90 Generations

Volvo XC90 18 Generation (2021)

The XC90 is comfortable, refined, and has a comfortable multimedia system. It doesn’t offer the most sporty driving experience, and third-row access can be difficult, but the XC90 is still impressive overall.

Volvo XC90 17 Generation (2020)

Standard convenience features include adaptive cruise control, a power liftgate, four-zone automatic air conditioning, and a panoramic moon roof with a power sunshade. Active safety features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.

Volvo XC90 16 Generation (2019)

The XC90 is Volvo’s flagship SUV. It seats six or seven in three rows, depending on the second-row configuration. A 250-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is standard, while a supercharged and turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 316 hp is available. Both engines work with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available.

Volvo XC90 15 Generation (2018)

Redesigned last year, the XC90 is Volvo’s flagship SUV. It seats five people in two rows or seven in three rows, depending on the model, and comes with a front- or all-wheel drive. It’s powered by a choice of four-cylinder engines, one of which is supercharged and turbocharged. A plug-in hybrid version is also offered.

Volvo XC90 14 Generation (2017)

For 2017, most versions now feature Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity, reflecting the selection of iPhone apps on the XC90 dashboard screen. LED headlights are now standard, and the new Luxury Package, available on Inscription models, includes nubuck headliner and roof pillars, leather carry handles, leather sun visors, and massaging front seats.

Volvo XC90 13 Generation (2016)

The 2016 Volvo XC90 is not only a new design, but it’s completely redesigned, stunning inside and out, with a host of technologies that not only impress, but also work instinctively. One of the first truly luxurious three-row SUVs on the market, the XC90 was a huge success, but it took Volvo years to significantly update such an important vehicle.

Volvo XC90 12 Generation (2014)

New 19-inch alloy wheels are available in 2014, and the 3.2 R-Design version now comes with a folding front passenger seat, digital compass, garage door opener, and grocery bag holder.

Volvo XC90 11 Generation (2013)

The XC90 gets freshened exterior styling for 2013 with the addition of standard body-colored front and rear bumpers, sills, and wheel arches; a silver front bumper bar; and LED daytime running lights and taillights. New standard features include headlight washers and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Meanwhile, the cabin gets white instrument lighting and aluminum inlays.

Volvo XC90 10 Generation (2012)

For 2012, the 4.4-liter V-8 engine is no longer offered, so all models come with the 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine. The number of offerings has expanded with the Premier Plus and Platinum packages. For the regular 3.2 version, Premier Plus includes a compass built into the rearview mirror, a garage door opener, and adaptive xenon headlights. Platinum adds a premium stereo system, a navigation system with a backup camera, and a blind spot monitoring system.

Volvo XC90 9 Generation (2011)

For 2011, the output of the XC90’s standard six-cylinder engine has increased slightly to 240 horsepower, and the crossover gains more standard features, including Bluetooth and Sirius Satellite Radio.

Volvo XC90 8 Generation (2010)

For 2010, the XC90 drops the V8 R-Design trim and adds standard heated front seats, headlamp washers, and rain-sensing windshield wipers to the V8 model. Base 3.2 also gains a standard third-row seat and moon roof.

Volvo XC90 7 Generation (2009)

The XC90 is now available with an R-Design appearance package on some models. A new optional Executive Package (on V-8 models) adds premium leather and heated front and rear seats, plus ventilation and massaging functions for the front seats.

Volvo XC90 6 Generation (2008)

Having undergone a number of updates for 2007, the Volvo XC90 sees few changes for 2008. The midsize luxury SUV has an available V-8 and seating for up to seven. Competitors include the Acura MDX, BMW X5 and Cadillac SRX.

Volvo XC90 5 Generation (2007)

For 2007, Volvo adds more safety features to the XC90: headlights that swivel to better illuminate corners, a rearview camera, and a Blind Spot Information System that can alert drivers to nearby vehicles.

Volvo XC90 4 Generation (2006)

Volvo offers a version of the XC90 with a 2.5T five-cylinder engine, while the T6 was discontinued in 2006. The available all-wheel-drive allows for a variety of terrain, but the XC90 is not designed for serious off-road driving. For 2006, a new all-wheel-drive system with Instant Traction is optional on 2.5T models and is standard on V-8 versions. A rear parking assistant is now a stand-alone option for the V-8 version, and a tire pressure monitoring system is standard.

Volvo XC90 3 Generation (2005)

The 2005 model year also brought improved Rain sensor wipers with flat blades and a standard Homelike transmitter.

Volvo XC90 2 Generation (2004)

For 2004, new 17-inch Aquarius alloy wheels are used, the flip-style key has an integrated remote control, and a leather gearshift knob has been added. Volvo offers 2.5T and T6 editions.

Volvo XC90 1 Generation (2003)

Volvo claims that the XC90 will be the safest SUV on the market, with several innovations in the industry. It will be equipped with systems such as rollover stability control, dynamic stability control, and traction control, as well as inflatable side curtain-type airbags. Night vision may be offered later. To improve compatibility with other vehicles, a lower cross member has been added to the front suspension subframe, which is located at beam height in a conventional car.
