Xenon lamps do not use in fog lights: constantly changing the configuration of the discharge violates the strictly calculated geometry of the light beam, and the headlight does not perform its direct function. For fog lights it is better to use only LED bulbs.

Volkswagen Golf Generations
Volkswagen Golf 27 Generation (2021)
The front-wheel-drive Volkswagen Golf is a four-door, five-seat compact hatchback that’s powered by a 147-horsepower, turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and an eight-speed automatic is available. A performance-oriented GTI version gets a 228-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that pairs with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Volkswagen Golf 26 Generation (2020)
The 2020 Golf lineup has been streamlined and now consists of a single TSI trim level that includes keyless access with push-button start, simulated leather upholstery, heated front seats, a panoramic moon roof, and 16-inch aluminum wheels. The Golf and GTI also get an updated version of Volkswagen’s Car-Net telematics system and a Wi-Fi hot spot (data plan required). Meanwhile, the GTI now has a standard forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.
Volkswagen Golf 25 Generation (2019)
The Golf S and SE, as well as the front-wheel-drive SportWagen, now have a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 147 horsepower instead of the 1.8-liter engine. Power on GTI models increases from 8 to 228 hp, and the GTI Rabbit Edition comes with gloss black 18-inch wheels, adaptive LED headlights, and unique exterior and interior trim; the GTI also gets an overdrive differential and breaks from the Golf R. Meanwhile, the Golf R comes in a single interior trim level with Dynamic Chassis Control adaptive suspension and navigation. Basic S trim levels for the Alltrack and regular Golf add frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Volkswagen Golf 24 Generation (2018)
The Golf was refreshed for 2018, but the changes are subtle, limited to minor updates like new standard LED daytime running lights and a revised dash layout to make room for a larger multimedia screen.
Volkswagen Golf 23 Generation (2017)
A Wolfsburg Edition trim level joins the lineup above the S trim. It features a moon roof, simulated leather upholstery, keyless access with push-button start, heated front seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, 16-inch aluminum wheels, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert, and Wolfsburg Edition badges and floor mats.
Volkswagen Golf 22 Generation (2016)
A newly available multimedia system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring on the car’s dashboard screen. The S trim level gains a backup camera while the SE adds keyless access with a push-button start.
Volkswagen Golf 21 Generation (2015)
The 2015 Golf has been redesigned for 2015 and is now larger and lighter than its previous generation.
Volkswagen Golf 20 Generation (2014)
The two-door hatchback has been dropped for 2014, the final model year for this generation of the Golf. There are no other significant changes.
Volkswagen Golf 19 Generation (2013)
The 2013 Volkswagen has dropped the manual transmission on four-door Golfs with the gas engine. Other changes are minor, including a newly standard front center armrest and floor mats.
Volkswagen Golf 18 Generation (2012)
The base TDI model has new 17-inch aluminum wheels, but other than a shuffling of the car’s packages and options, there are no other significant changes for 2012.
Volkswagen Golf 17 Generation (2011)
EPA gas mileage ratings for both diesel and gasoline engines improved this year. VW says that’s due to a new round of EPA tests for the 2011 model, there’s nothing mechanically different about it. Apart from that, changes for 2011 are minimal.
Volkswagen Golf 16 Generation (2010)
The standard 17-inch TDI alloy wheels provide a stable ride – probably too stiff for some drivers. As a base model 2.5, my test car had standard 15-inch steel rims. Even with the higher series tires, rated as P195 / 65R15, the road feel is greater than in some cars.
Volkswagen Golf 15 Generation (2006)
Volkswagen’s compact front-wheel-drive Golf is available only as a four-door hatchback for 2006, the two-door GL and four-door GL TDI (diesel) have been dropped. An all-new Golf is scheduled to emerge in the second quarter of 2006.
Volkswagen Golf 14 Generation (2005)
Apart from the updated onboard diagnostic software, not much has changed in 2005. The two-door Golf models are only available in the GL version, and the four-door hatchbacks are offered in GL and GLS versions.
Volkswagen Golf 13 Generation (2004)
A new version of the Volkswagen 1.9-liter TDI (turbo-diesel) engine makes 100 horsepower and is available for 2004 in the GL and GLS models. A Monsoon sound system is standard in the GLS, and a Telematics system is optional for all models.
Volkswagen Golf 12 Generation (2003)
The Golf 2.0-liter gasoline engine is classified as an Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV). An Electronic Stability Program is optional for the GL and GLS.
Volkswagen Golf 11 Generation (2002)
More powerful engines are installed in the Volkswagen GTI sports hatchback, a model upgraded for 2002. The GLS and GLX trims are gone, but the available 1.8-liter turbocharged engine increases output by 30 horsepower and is now rated at 180 hp.
Volkswagen Golf 10 Generation (2001)
Curtain-type airbags that protect the heads of passengers inside collisions will become standard on the Golf and GTI later in the 2001 model year. This feature gives these modestly-priced cars a component usually found on more expensive vehicles.
Volkswagen Golf 9 Generation (2000)
A new eight-channel, 200-watt Monsoon sound system rattles the windows of the GTI GLX model as a new standard feature and is a new option on the others. A trunk-mounted six-disc CD changer also is available. All models have standard air conditioning, automatic power door locks, and a cassette player.
