Toyota Tacoma Generations
Toyota Tacoma 3 Generation (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021)
The 2016 Tacoma received updates, including a more aggressive front-end design, a new V-6 engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, suspension changes, and high-strength steel for the frame and body. The interior has been updated as well, and a GoPro camera mount has been added. More recently, a TRD Pro model with enhanced off-road capabilities was added for 2017, and by 2018, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning with roll warning, and adaptive cruise control were standard.
Toyota Tacoma 2 Generation (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015)
A redesigned Tacoma in 2005 gave all versions of the truck a more muscular appearance, a longer wheelbase, and a wider track. Although Toyota continued to call it a compact truck, it was a mid-sized truck. The regular cab, Access Cab, and twin cabs, as well as the base 4-cylinder engine and available V-6, were larger and more powerful. The maximum payload with proper equipment was 5,500 pounds. Stability control, front side airbags, and side curtain airbags were standard for 2009. In 2012, the truck was slightly updated externally and internally, and the conventional cab body style disappeared after 2014.
