Nissan Armada Generations
Nissan Armada 17 Generation (2021)
The refreshed 2021 Armada gains some much-needed improvements to make it a more well-rounded SUV, but Nissan went small while competitors took big leaps.
Nissan Armada 16 Generation (2020)
The 2020 Nissan Armada is a full-size SUV that seats up to eight people in three rows. It comes standard with a 390-horsepower, 5.6-liter V-8 engine, and a seven-speed automatic transmission.
Nissan Armada 15 Generation (2019)
A new standard safety feature for 2019 is Rear Door Alert, which is meant to help you not forget the laptop (or toddler) you put in the backseat. It warns the driver if a rear door was used at the start of a trip but not accessed again when it ended, including a horn beep if you walk away.
Nissan Armada 14 Generation (2018)
The Armada full-size SUV is quiet, comfortable (in the first two rows), well-equipped, and easy to like, but you’ll have to overlook its dated media tech, tight third row, and trucklike handling.
Nissan Armada 13 Generation (2017)
When you do too many things at once, none of those things tend to be done well, and that holds true for the 2017 Nissan Armada. It excels as a rugged, capable stuff-mover, but when you throw people into the mix, its abilities are diminished.
Nissan Armada 12 Generation (2015)
There are no significant changes for 2015.
Nissan Armada 11 Generation (2014)
The 2014 Nissan Armada is an eight-seat full-size SUV that competes with the Toyota Sequoia and Chevrolet Tahoe. Trim levels include the SV, SL, and Platinum. All trims come standard with rear-wheel drive but are available with four-wheel drive.
Nissan Armada 10 Generation (2013)
The Armada, though, is pure SUV. That means its truck-derived frame delivers a bouncier ride over rough pavement, and the optional 20-inch wheels and tires produce quite a bit of noise as well.
Nissan Armada 9 Generation (2012)
Minor changes include the addition of a power liftgate and heated front seats on SL models. Platinum trims gain second-row heated seats.
Nissan Armada 8 Generation (2011)
For 2011, the Armada’s trim levels are reorganized, with the SE being rewritten the SV and the Titanium becoming the SL. The Platinum remains the top trim.
Nissan Armada 7 Generation (2010)
For 2010, the Armada gets new options and two new trim levels: Titanium and Platinum.
Nissan Armada 6 Generation (2009)
There are no significant changes to the 2009 Nissan Armada, it was redesigned for the 2008 model year.
Nissan Armada 5 Generation (2008)
The Armada is Nissan’s largest SUV, and the automaker has updated it for the 2008 model year with some minor exterior styling changes and a more luxurious cabin. The Armada is still powered by a 5.6-liter V-8 engine and has room for up to eight.
Nissan Armada 4 Generation (2007)
For 2007, the Armada’s standard 5.6-liter V-8 gets a nominal power boost thanks to better airflow. It’s also newly equipped to run on either regular or ethanol-based E85 fuel.
Nissan Armada 3 Generation (2006)
Dual-zone automatic climate control and a 60/40-split, folding third-row seat are standard for 2006. LE models have new outside mirrors, and the Armada’s stereo can play MP3-formatted CDs. A Tow Package is standard on the SE Off-Road model, and Majestic Blue and Granite are new exterior colors.
Nissan Armada 2 Generation (2005)
Enhancements are minor for 2005. A power rear lift gate has been added to the SE Sunroof Package, and a Rearview Monitor is included in the Technology group. Front active head restraints and seat belt pretensions are now standard. SE and LE models gain equipment that was previously part of the Upgrade Package.
Nissan Armada 1 Generation (2004)
Nissan’s new all-aluminum 5.6-liter V-8 engine, called Endurance, powers all Armadas. The Nissan uses the 4.5-liter V-8 for its Q45 and M45 sedans from its Infiniti luxury division, but the 5.6-liter engine has a slightly larger cylinder pattern. The new V-8 produces less 305 horsepower, but more torque, 385 lb-ft than the 4.5-liter engine, which produces 340 hp and 333 lb-ft of torque. Although it is also a dual overhead camshaft design, the Endurance V-8 achieves maximum power at relatively lower engine speeds and runs on regular unleaded gasoline rather than premium gasoline.
