Mitsubishi Outlander 19 Generation (2022)

Mitsubishi’s seven-seat Outlander SUV is available with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 166 horsepower or a 3.0-liter V-6 engine with 224 horsepower. The four-cylinder pairs with a continuously variable automatic transmission, while the V-6 works with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Mitsubishi Outlander 17 Generation (2019)

The Outlander gets a new front end, a lower skid plate, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Other tweaks, including softer front seats and revisions to the suspension and steering, are meant to improve comfort, Mitsubishi says. A repair kit replaces the spare tire, and the rear seating area gets air vents. Similar upgrades to the PHEV are joined by a new USB port in the rear.

Mitsubishi Outlander 16 Generation (2018)

The gas-only Outlander comes in five trim levels: ES, SE, LE, SEL, and GT (which I tested). Updates to the 2018 model are slight: ES models get a new 7-inch touchscreen as standard equipment, while the SEL’s standard feature list adds blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a power liftgate. The top-trim GT adds a 360-degree camera system and a heated steering wheel standard.

For 2017, the SE, SEL, and GT trim levels come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity. New advanced safety features are also offered on several trims: Forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection is optional for the SEL and GT, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert comes standard on the GT and is available for the SEL. All trims come with a standard backup camera for this model year, and drivers can upgrade to a multi-view camera for the SEL or GT.

For 2015, the Mitsubishi Outlander sports a new upper front grille and restyled LED taillights on the GT. A leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob are standard equipment for all trims, as is the FUSE Hands-Free Link System with Bluetooth connectivity and a USB port. It also boasts improved sound insulation, suspension tuning, and continuously variable transmission calibration, according to Mitsubishi.

Mitsubishi Outlander 12 Generation (2014)

In Outlander Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive available on four-cylinder models and standard on the V-6. The all-wheel-drive system has four selectable settings: Normal, Snow, Lock (off-road), and Eco. The Eco mode allows power to go to just the two front wheels during most conditions, which Mitsubishi says boosts fuel economy.

Mitsubishi Outlander 3 Generation (2005)

The four-door Outlander has a one-piece design and bold character. The fender extenders on the Limited have a monochrome finish. The tubular roof rack, which is standard on the XLS and Limited and optional on the LS, can be adapted to carry bikes, surfboards, and skis. The XLS is equipped with fog lights, rear safety glass, and color-coded exterior mirrors. A sunroof is standard on the Limited. With a 103.3-inch wheelbase, the Outlander has an overall length of 179 inches.

The 2004 Outlander gets a more powerful and fuel-efficient 2.4-liter engine, which produces 160 horsepower and 162 pounds-feet of torque; that represents a 20-hp increase from last year’s model. The new engine features the Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing and Lift Electronic Control (MIVEC). An engine immobilizer is installed on 2004 models. LS and XLS trim levels are available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
