Hyundai Sonata Generations
Hyundai Sonata 8 Generation (2020, 2021)
The eighth-generation Hyundai Sonata hit the market in 2020. The base model Hyundai Sonata Preferred 2.5L has a normally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 191 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. The other three Hyundai Sonata models – Sport, Luxury, and Ultimate – have turbocharged power in the form of the Smartstream 1.6 T-GDI engine.
Hyundai Sonata 7 Generation (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019)
The seventh-generation Sonata is more composed, more refined, more technologically advanced, but its simple style is a step backward. The lineup expands in 2016 when Hyundai launches a plug-in hybrid for 2016. It is designed to go 27 miles on electricity.
Hyundai Sonata 6 Generation (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014)
The Sonata ditches the traditional sedan for futuristic sculpture and a streamlined silhouette. The new turbocharged four-cylinder sedan is fast out of the box. Hyundai will debut the Sonata Hybrid for the first time in 2011.
Hyundai Sonata 5 Generation (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010)
The Sonata becomes a true player in the midsize sedan segment with a mature design, a better driving experience, and an improved interior quality. The 3.3-liter V6 produces 235 horsepower, a powerful leap from previous years.
